Manchester BAPS Community Centre – Temple

manchester community centre & temple

A temple community centre was created from a derelict school site, in an established residential area, to provide a place of worship and community.

A rectangular configuration, designed over two levels, with a compact central circulation spine that connects the various spaces of the building. This includes the main temple, community hall, classrooms and a dining area. This design allows natural light to enter the deeper spaces.

The building facades contain minimal articulation, except for the main entrance portico that has extensive artwork. The design combines traditional Indian architectural forms with modern brickwork.
